About

Hello, and welcome to A Walker in the Suburbs. Whether you’ve made your way here from my old site or are visiting for the first time, I’m glad you’ve found this little corner of the web. I’m a writer of books and articles, but this is where I muse on light pouring in the window or the last leaf on the sassafras tree. Here you can catch your breath, read and reflect. I hope you visit often.

Here’s a brief bio written in the ever-so-professional third person:

Anne Cassidy blogs daily at A Walker in the Suburbs. A longtime freelance writer, her essays and articles have been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Washington Independent Review of Books, Motherwell, Travel & Leisure, Woman’s Day, and many other publications. She is the author of Parents Who Think Too Much (Dell) and co-author of Single File (St. Martin’s).

For ten years, Cassidy was the editor of Georgetown Law magazine, and she spent five years writing for the nonprofit Winrock International, traveling the world to cover everything from human trafficking in Bangladesh to solar power in Indonesia. She has degrees from Northwestern University and Columbia’s School of Journalism, and is currently a student in the Master of Liberal Arts program at Georgetown.
